Welcome to my marathon sponsor page! Hello, my name is Yonah Kafash, I am from Great Neck, NY and I am in my senior year of high school at North Shore Hebrew Academy! This upcoming March I will be running as part of Team Shalva in the Jerusalem Marathon! This marathon has been dubbed one of the hardest in the world, so why on earth am I doing it? Well... Shalva is an amazing organization in Israel that helps children who suffer from physical and mental disabilities. Being a senior in high school, I have had so many opportunities to work with children with special needs, whether it is a friendship circle, to Yachad and shalva! Two years ago I had the opportunity to visit the Shalva center and spent the day with a child from shalva, Aharon, and it really warmed my heart. After that day at Shalva, I remember telling my friends that BZH one day I will have the blessing to run this marathon. I will be running in honor of one of my closest friends, Shai Solomon who unfortunately passed away this year. Shai was a 17-year-old boy who lived in Beit Shemesh, he always looked at the good in people, he had especially emphasized how special and holy people who suffer from mental and physical disabilities are. Please find it in your heart to help me accomplish my dream, as well as Shai's dream. Thank you!
