This March I will be running with Team Shalva in Jerusalem!
I will be running a 10k in jerusalem but the real question is, why?
The reason is Shalva and my own personal growth.
Shalva has been providing transformative care to individuals with disabilities and their family members in the warmest and most loving environment for over 30 years. From infancy through adulthood, this amazing organization provides leading-edge therapies, inclusive educational frameworks, social and recreational activities, employment training, independent living, respite programs regardless of religion, ethnic background or financial capability!
Simply put, Shalva is an incredible place and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The staff is so loving and kind and goes above and beyond to make the center a home away from home.
I am doing my part to support this amazing organization by running, and I need your help.
In all honesty I'm not really a runner. My motivation for this run is my previous progress.
My friends and family know that I've come a long way with my anxiety. It's something I've struggled with since the age of four and over the past year have been overcoming.
Like most people, my mental health journey isn't as black and white as I'd like. I reached a stage where my mental problems started to become physical and vice versa. This unfortunately made me unable to walk up the stairs (let alone run) without feeling an overwhelming sense of anxiety grip at my whole existence.
I am now grateful, pleased and beyond happy to say that is no longer the case.
This run to me is a challenge for both the new and old Sophie. I don't think she would be able to believe that in just a few months time, she will be in the holy land, running 10K, for an amazing cause.
So. with that being said, I'll take care of the training, the achy feet and the finish line if you'll help me by donating to this worthy cause. All contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, and anything you can give would help me reach my goal, and together we'll be supporting this truly special place
