Please help me help the less fortunate kids
I will be running as part of Team Shalva in the Jerusalem Marathon in March 2023
This marathon has been dubbed one of the hardest in the world, so why am I doing it?
The reason is Shalva.
Shalva has been providing transformative care to individuals with disabilities and their family members in the warmest and most loving environment for over 30 years. From infancy through adulthood, Shalva provides leading-edge therapies, inclusive educational frameworks, social and recreational activities, employment training, independent living, respite programs regardless of religion, ethnic background or financial capability!
Shalva is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Its staff goes above and beyond to make the center a home away from home for disabled and disadvantaged children.
Like the children Shalva has been helping, I began my childhood with many disadvantages. Despite an arduous and spartan existence, I received many helping hands from kind strangers. As an adult, I have been trying to live a do-no-harm, productive life and helping those less fortunate--teaching inmates math and English, working at shelters and homeless kitchens, volunteering in developing countries, mentoring Little Brothers, rescuing animals, and helping to save wildlife and the environment. I started my Shalva connection by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2018. I rode for Bike the US for MS (Multiple Sclerosis) in the summer of 2022. I will be biking with Mitzvah Ride/Run to raise funds for Bikur Cholim in September 2022, which provides volunteer services to Washington area hospitals.
Our existence is short and minuscule against eternity. Humans often strive to find meaning and purpose in life. All these activities help me find meaning and purpose.
I'll take care of the training, the achy feet and the finish line if you'll help me by donating to this worthy cause. All contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, and together we'll be supporting this special place.
Thank you in advance for your help and generosity.
