My school, TanenbaumCHAT has started their own team for Team Shalva within the Jerusalem marathon on March 15, 2019. I have been given an amazing opportunity to run a 10km race as part of this team, go to Israel, and meet the kids of Shalva in Jerusalem. In case you do not know, Shalva is a centre in Israel that provides free care and support for infants to young adults with disabilities and their families. Over 2000 children are helped weekly, providing after school care, therapy, overnights, and a safe space for these kids.
Not only Shalva but this cause means so much to me, because one of my best friends, Betsy Stein, who has Down syndrome, has inspired me to believe that just because you have something that could be holding you back doesn't mean it should. She inspires me every single day to be the best possible version of myself. Betsy is also one of the reasons I am interested in people with disabilities, both physical and mental, and inspired me to want to go into the field of medicine with them.
Sponsoring me will not just make one of my dreams come true, it will also contribute to such an amazing cause, one that has helped hundreds of thousands of families and patients with many more to come. Thank you in advance for your support.
