Welcome to my marathon sponsor page!
This March I will once again be running as part of Team Shalva in the Jerusalem Marathon!
Last March, just three hours before my run for Shalva, I received the terrible news that my mother had passed away in Montreal. Instead of resting, I spent the few hours before the race announcing the death to my sister and children in Montreal and coordinating the funeral with my Rabbis back home. I was unable to fly out of Israel on such short notice on a Friday since Shabbat was coming and I couldn’t let my Shalva kids down on their much-anticipated race day. Instead, I booked a flight that would get me back in time for the funeral on Sunday afternoon.
Despite my overwhelming sadness, during the run my heart and thoughts were with the Shalva kids and their challenges, which gave me the strength and inspiration to continue to push through, stride by stride.
I felt so honoured when on Shabbat during the Shalva Band’s acapella performance their lead singer (who is blind) dedicated the song ‘Ima’ to me. It meant the world.
Shalva has been providing transformative care to children with disabilities and their family members in the most warm and loving environment for the past 28 years. The new state-of-the-art Shalva National Center opened in 2016 where they are now servicing literally thousands of children per week, free of charge. Simply put, Shalva is an incredible place. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and cares for children from birth through 21 years. The staff is so loving and kind, to both the children and their families, and goes above and beyond to make the center a home away from home.
Please support my run by donating to this worthy cause. All donations are 100% tax deductible, anything you can give would help me reach my goal, and together we'll be supporting this truly special place.
Thank you in advance for your help and generosity.
